I have always had an interest in health and my career pathway has followed a natural progression since qualifying as a midwife in 2000. I have worked as a midwife in both the UK and Australia. I returned to the UK in 2005 working at my local NHS Trust until 2016 when I set up my own business. Being a midwife is a privileged role and I loved caring for pregnant women and their families.
It was through my role as a midwife that I recognised the physical impact pregnancy and birth can have on a mother and baby. I cared for many babies who had physical injuries from instrumental births, some of which impacted on their feeding.
My experience as a midwife, my practice as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and my training as a craniosacral therapist has helped me to understand and appreciate that physical and emotional wellbeing are intertwined and that health and vitality involves the whole person.
Petra qualified as a craniosacral therapist from Thomas Attlee’s College of Craniosacral Therapy. The training has taught me as much about myself as it has the clients I treat. For instance, I was amazed to find out through my own treatments, that I was unconsciously holding on to emotional trauma from my own birth which hadn’t had the opportunity to be released some fifty years ago. It felt great to release it from my body.
My practice as a Craniosacral therapist encompasses people of all ages, male and female and from a variety of backgrounds and life experience. During treatments I apply various approaches meaning I work on a bio dynamic and energetic level. This approach allows me to treat the whole person at a deep therapeutic level.
I am passionate about helping and supporting people to be the healthiest and happiest they can be.
